There’s a display of the plans for the redevelopment of the former Buckland Paper Mill site open to the public tomorrow (24th June 2009) from 1pm until 9pm.
It’s in the old Mill Manager’s house at the site and is well worth a quick visit.
The public consensus seems to be of positive approval for the plans, with most people expressing a wish for them to just ‘get on with it’ as soon as possible!
Representatives from SEEDA and the CTM architects will be present.
The developers for the site are The Gillcrest Group.
The phasing of the project has been re-jigged a little to place the initial emphasis on the development work that they have secured interest for e.g. Phase 1 will be the frontage to London Road. They already have parties interested in the planned Care Home and affordable accommodation.
DDC’s website has a dedicated page for Buckland Mill.
Follow this link to an interesting website covering the History of Buckland Mill.
As with any other planning application, the plans can be viewed at the DDC website:
The people who have worked very hard and invested well in excess of £1m is Gillcrest Group and i am so surpised to not see one mention of them , they are the developers who designed the whole scheme with CTM architects appointed by Gillcrest. They are the ones who have developed amazing schemes in parts of Kent where no other developer would have gone, lets hope we see them develop this scheme.
Thanks for your feedback and apologies for not mentioning Gillcrest – mention and link to their site now added.
Good to see the correct people get the credit.
