Dover is to get a preview of the 14omph Javelin train service earlier than expected.
Journey times to London will be cut to just over 1hr.

Managing director Charles Horton said:
The high speed service means passengers from Dover will be able to reach London in just over an hour where it now takes nearly two hours – making it a town where you can now easily commute from.

Dock Rock is on from noon to 10pm today.

Dover Castle is one of English Heritage’s most popular UK sites, we are very lucky to have it and probably all take it for granted, but how much do you know (remember?) about the history and importance of this great castle?

Dover Castle Light Show this Saturday night.
To celebrate the re-opening of the refurbished Great Tower on Saturday August 1st the castle will be illuminated by a light show at 9:30pm.
You should be able to view the show from the Market Square, the Sea Front, or the Western Heights.

This photo shows what a happy crowd of 5,ooo people leaving Dover Seafront via the underpass looks like!
What a fantastic fireworks display as the perfect climax to a day of entertainment on a sunny Dover seafront to celebrate the centenary of Louis Bleriot’s first flight across the channel.

My favourite was the representation of the White Cliffs of Dover in a falling shower of white fireworks from the Prince of Wales pier …
